Doug Haynes - Basketball Coach
Doug Haynes is a highly accomplished basketball coach with an extensive background as both a player and mentor. His career spans decades of success at the high school, collegiate, and AAU levels, where he has made a lasting impact on players and programs alike.
As a player, Doug was a standout at West Warwick High School, where he was a key member of two state championship teams and was later inducted into the Hall of Fame. He continued his success at the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), earning All-American honors twice and being recognized as an All-Region 21 selection.
Doug’s coaching career is just as impressive. He spent 18 years as the head coach at Bay View Academy, leading the team to two state championships and earning Division 1 Coach of the Year honors seven times. He then transitioned to the collegiate level as the head coach of the CCRI women’s basketball program, where he won three Region 21 Championships, made three National Tournament appearances, and was named Region 21 and District Coach of the Year three times. His contributions to the program led to his induction into the CCRI Hall of Fame.In addition to his high school and collegiate coaching experience, Doug has been actively involved in AAU basketball, coaching for programs such as the RI Hawks, RI Cyclone, and RI Warriors. His ability to develop players, build winning programs, and foster a culture of excellence has made him one of the most respected coaches in the region.
