Player Code of Conduct

Rhode Island Warriors AAU Team Player Code of Conduct

 

Being a member of the Rhode Island Warriors is a privilege, and every player is expected to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, effort, and character. The following rules and expectations have been set to ensure an enjoyable and successful season for all:

 

1. Commitment

• Attend all practices, games, and team events on time. Notify your coach as early as possible if you cannot attend.

• Put forth your best effort during practices, games, and training sessions.

• Be coachable, listen to feedback, and remain dedicated to improving your skills and basketball IQ.

 

2. Sportsmanship

• Treat teammates, coaches, opponents, referees, and spectators with respect at all times.

• Celebrate team successes and support your teammates, avoiding negative attitudes or behaviors.

• Avoid unsportsmanlike conduct, including taunting, trash talk, or arguing with referees.

 

3. Communication

• Address any concerns directly and respectfully with your coach or team staff.

• Use appropriate language and maintain a positive tone in all interactions, both on and off the court.

 

4. Teamwork

• Place the team’s success above personal achievements.

• Encourage and support your teammates, both during games and in practice.

• Accept and fulfill your role on the team as determined by your coach.

 

5. Discipline and Self-Control

• Avoid technical fouls, ejections, or any behavior that negatively impacts the team.

• Stay calm and focused under pressure.

• Handle wins and losses with dignity and respect.

 

6. Responsibility

• Take care of your equipment, uniform, and team-provided gear.

• Arrive prepared for practices and games with the necessary attire and gear.

• Demonstrate accountability for your behavior both on and off the court.

 

7. Representing the Rhode Island Warriors

• Maintain a positive image for yourself, your family, and the organization at all times.

• Avoid any behavior that reflects poorly on the Rhode Island Warriors AAU team, such as inappropriate social media posts or off-court misconduct.

 

8. Anti-Bullying Policy

• Zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, or exclusion of teammates or opponents.

• Treat everyone fairly and respectfully, regardless of ability, background, or personality.

 

9. Academic Focus

• Prioritize your education and maintain academic eligibility.

• Strive for a balance between academics, basketball, and personal life.

 

Consequences for Violations

 

Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:

• Verbal warnings.

• Reduced playing time.

• Suspension from practices, games, or team events.

• Removal from the Rhode Island Warriors AAU team.

 

This Code of Conduct is designed to create a positive, respectful, and productive environment for all players, coaches, and families involved with the Rhode Island Warriors. Let’s work together to make this season a success!
